OSITION ACTIVITIES/ PROGRAM MANAGER-
ADULT DAY HEALTH CENTER
SENIOR SERVICES, a nonprofit community organization in Washington, DC dedicated to enabling older people to live with dignity and independence, seeks a qualified Activities/Program Manager. IONA IONA’s Adult Day programs are designed to meet the needs of seniors with dementia or physical disabilities and their families. Our medical model adult day health center serves up to 33 seniors each day with moderate to advanced dementia and/or physical impairments while our clubs program serves older adult in the earlier stages of dementia. Both programs offer meaningful activities in a safe and caring setting with added education and support for caregivers. The Center is conveniently located 1 block from the Tenleytown/AU Metro Station on the Red Line.
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation or other creative arts background with an understanding of the social, recreational and therapeutic needs of the elderly and their caregiver. Minimum two years’ experience with dementia patients in addition to program management and development. Experience in a multi-disciplinary setting preferred. Other Requirements: Initial and annual PPD/chest X-ray; CPR and First Aid certification.
General Responsibilities: Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing of the overall operation of IONA’s Adult Day Health Center activity program and the Early Alzheimer’s Clubs to meet the individual and group needs of the participants. Supervision of the Activities Staff in the Adult Day Health Center and Early Alzheimer’s Clubs and volunteers. Responsible for scheduling and training all program staff and volunteers.
Status: Full-time position, 40 hours per week
